We want to expand to a thousand display cabinets!
Retailers can always find what they’re looking for at cash-and-carry wholesaler Gruppo Corso, as the choice is vast. The same goes for the stock: the display cabinet showroom in Breukelen is stocked with, among other things, 25,000 mannequins, half a million clothes hangers and around three hundred SDB display cabinets. If the Kaatee family has their way, it won’t stop there.
“We want to expand to a thousand display cabinets,” says co-owner Michel Kaatee, who runs the business together with his parents and brother. “That will make us the largest display cabinet showroom in Europe. We aim to achieve this by the end of this year, because with a large stock of display cabinets, we’ll also be attractive to major retailers. After all, that allows us to respond at lightning speed.”
Dual role of display cabinets
Incidentally, SDB’s display cabinets serve a dual purpose at Gruppo Corso. They form part of the wide-ranging product range, which includes everything a retailer needs: from flooring and counters to wigs and bags. And alongside this, their own products shine behind the glass from Rosmalen. “The display cabinets allow us to present our lighting and clothes hangers perfectly,” explains Michel. “Visitors can view the entire collection at a glance and take items from it straight away.”
Quality
This is the cash-and-carry concept at its best. And that principle also works well with display cabinets. Michel: “Both our customers and we ourselves are impressed by SDB’s craftsmanship. The display cabinets stand out for their quality: all the materials used are excellent and the display cabinets are slightly taller than usual. That not only provides more space, but also adds a touch of flair. This also applies to the showpieces displayed, hung or laid out within them.”
“What’s more, the service is spot on,” Michel continues. “Communication is excellent, display cabinets are fully assembled and delivered on time, and production is consistent. Yes, I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve made the switch from a foreign supplier to one based in North Brabant.”
Pizzeria style
The Katees founded Gruppo Corso roughly fourteen years ago in a garage. Since then, the company has grown steadily, resulting in a wholesale outlet along the A2 covering no less than 10,000 square metres. No long delivery times or just a catalogue, but plenty of examples and a welcoming atmosphere. That remains their strength to this day.
“We call that ‘the pizzeria style’,” says Michel with a smile. “When someone comes in, we don’t ask if they have an appointment. What we do say is: ‘Welcome! Would you like a cappuccino on the house? Please feel free to have a look around with your family or friends.’ We’ll keep doing that. Even when we have the largest display showroom in Europe!”
